For those of you who are new to Altostra, allow us to give you a brief overview.
Altostra is a no-code infrastructure platform for developers and teams.
In these days and age, you can no longer push your source code to a Git repository and go about your next ticket. The new era of cloud-native applications demands more work from developers than ever before.
Developers increasingly gain more responsibility for their applications’ infrastructure and for delivering those applications to multiple cloud environments. When you add logging, monitoring, and other aspects, you get a development team taking on DevOps work.
With Altostra by your side, you can create application infrastructures without writing code or configuration files. You deploy your applications to multiple environments governed by policies and pre-defined configuration sets. You manage your applications in a central, self-serving interface in collaboration with your team.
You do the critical business work and let Altostra do the rest.
Altostra on Auth0 Marketplace
We are excited to announce that Altostra is now available on the Auth0 Marketplace. The integration enables you to use existing Auth0 applications and APIs and to provision Auth0 applications, APIs, rules and more directly from your Altostra projects as part of the deployment process.
Auth0 is our authentication platform of choice from day one. We have entrusted our user management and authentication concerns to the security professionals at Auth0 so that we can focus on providing you with the best cloud development experience.
Here’s what Bill Lapcevic, VP of Business Development at Auth0, had to say: “It has been really exciting to work with Altostra on a newly-built partner integration for the launch of Auth0 Marketplace. This best-in-class solution adds an integral layer to our platform that provides our customers with greater choice and flexibility. After speaking with many customers, we have identified the types of integrations that matter to them, and we are so thrilled to have Altostra as a vetted and valuable vendor in Auth0 Marketplace.”
Working with Auth0 in Altostra
First, connect an Auth0 Tenant to your Altostra account. You can find the full step-by-step instructions in the Altostra listing on Auth0 Marketplace.
Next, let’s add an Auth0 Application to authenticate our users. We’ll use the Auth0 Application resource from the External Resources list since our Auth0 Application already exists, and provide it with the Client ID of the Auth0 application we want to use in our project.
And now we connect the function to the Auth0 Application.
Altostra will inject the Auth0 Application details into the function when you deploy this project, it will use the Auth0 Tenant configured for the deployment environment.
You can access the Auth0 Application details in your function’s code via environment variables as listed in the function edit dialog.
In future posts, we’ll see how to provision Auth0 Applications and APIs together with the rest of our infrastructure.
Auth0 provides a platform to authenticate, authorize, and secure access for applications, devices, and users. Security and application teams rely on Auth0's simplicity, extensibility, and expertise to make identity work for everyone. Safeguarding billions of login transactions each month, Auth0 secures identities so innovators can innovate, and empowers global enterprises to deliver trusted, superior digital experiences to their customers around the world.
